Over fifty years ago, Cecil Anderson bought a new 1962 Chevy half-ton pickup for $1,700 from Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix, Arizona.  The truck has been in the family ever since… with Cecil selling the truck to his brother, who eventually sold it to Cecil’s son, Brett, when he was sixteen and first got his license.  But, as often is the case with classic cars, the years and the miles took their toll, and the truck was closer to scrap than showroom condition for the last 17 years.

So Cecil’s son-in-law, Jim Anderson, decided to do something about it.  In December 2013, he secretly bought the truck from Brett, then tore it down and did a complete restoration job.  Jim contacted Courtesy Chevrolet, who helped arrange one of the most touching Father’s Day stories you’re likely to ever see.  On June 14, 2014, Cecil Sims, a Korean War veteran and now aged 82, got his Chevy truck back… restored to its original factory condition.
