“Americans have had a love affair with their automobiles that dates back to the turn of the century and it’s stronger than ever today. I bought my first Model T in 1960 and it opened a new world to me.”    – George W. Cross III

On August 3, 1975, George W. Cross III held the first Pomona Swap Meet. George was an automobile enthusiast and he wanted to create a centralized meeting place, where gearheads could come together to share their hobby and find the parts they needed for their projects. That first show in the summer of ’75 attracted over 4,000 people. We’ve grown a lot since then, with hundreds of thousands of people coming to Pomona every year, but we’ve never wavered from George’s original vision. Forty years on, we remain committed to the hobby, to classic cars and their owners, and to our employees.

You can read more about our history here. As we celebrate our past, and look forward to our future, we thought we would share some of our favorite pictures from Pomona with you.

“What’s better than looking and learning about classic cars, toys, and tools with your dad. That’s why I love the Pomona Swap Meet.”

“Car heaven.”

– Shane M.

“My hubby and I have been going for years, since we were teenagers. First we were Bug people, then we got a Chevy and grew up into that section. Now we’re older and need to go for both of those sections! We love Pomona, and have lots of friends and family that go religiously!”

– Aurora A.

“Best place ever for car guys!”

– Adrian Q.

“I remember going with my brother in law to some of the first swap meets. It’s hard to believe that it has grown into what it is today. Over the years I have purchased three vehicles there, and sold two.”

– Skip B.

“I started going when I bought my first VW Bug at age 15. Then, about 3 years later, I was an actual seller of VW parts. Then I got into Chevys so now I do both!”

– Eddie B.

“All I can say is wow!”

– Dave B.

Capture 7“OMG it’s amazing! Hubby had been before, and he reckons I wouldn’t make it all the way around. Wrong! I ended up dragging him around. I pushed the cart with our bargains in it. There is nothing like it here in Australia. You guys have an awesome event and I hope one day I get to go again.”

– Leanne S.

Capture 6“I like it because it has all the parts that you need. It’s the best place to find cars. It’s been my childhood… and I love it!”
