The Just Cruzin So Cal VW Club rolled deep into last month’s Pomona Swap Meet & Classic Car Show. We had seen a few of their rides before, but this was a great turnout and representation of the So Cal VW scene!

Club co-founder, Chuck Anaya, brought out his 1964 Bus. We’re always a fan of safari windows, but get a load of the ceiling with that tiki interior! When Chuck bought his bus, it was just an empty shell. His wife called it a “pile of junk!” Chuck re-did everything and now it’s their “poor man’s RV.” It’s a driver, and Chuck and his family travel everywhere in it!

Big thanks to Harold Sosa for helping to organize Just Cruzin’s trip to Pomona! Harold came out with his son, Levi, and his beautiful 1962 convertible! Harold has had this Bug for twenty years – more than half of his life!

Big Wayne Holloway brought out his 1956 Bug. Wayne has had it since 1993. He re-built the entire car in his garage, and it’s fully loaded with power everything!

It’s a family affair with this 1963 Panel Van. Christian Betancourt Sanchez came out to Pomona with Nancy, Ximena, and Emily (left to right). Christian put in a new motor, transmission, and wiring to get this Bus road worthy, and now the family loves taking it camping. We kind of love the patina!

This ’64 Notchback was purchased by Tony Causor for only $800 a couple of years ago. He’s done a lot of work, inside and out, to get it to where it is today.

Garry Tenorio slammed his rag top Beetle, but other than that this 1958 Type 1 is all original… including the paint and 36hp engine!

Gary Day bought this 1965 Bus about two years ago and he’s been working on it ever since. There’s a LOT of potential with this one!

Jose Ceja brought out his 1965 Bug, along with his son, Jose Godinez, and his nephew, Samuel Ceja (left to right.). Jose has had the Bug for ten years. It’s got custom airbags and wheels, and a nice 1776cc engine.

Vic Ortiz has had this beautiful Stato Silver ’64 Bug for about three and a half years. He’s done a lot of work on it, from the paint to the interior, and it shows! Super clean!

Alex Salazar has had this 1970 T2 for two years. It’s a driver, with custom paint, custom wheels, and that sweet bay window!

Daniel Castillo and his son, Daniel Jr., brought out their clean ’64 Bug. We love the details on this one… those dark bumpers and the Porsche rims!

Fernando Nuno has owned this ’64 Notch for seven years. It’s a driver, and Nuno is working on it himself.

Juan Olivas brought his daughter – Genesis, his son – Damian, and his 1964 Bug to the show. Juan has had the car for six years, and plans to pass it on to Genesis. She turned sixteen on the Tuesday after the show, but she still needs to learn how to drive a stick! (I learned how to drive stick on a ’69 Bug… you’ll do great, Genesis!)

Chip Perez has owned this clean 1967 Microbus Deluxe for fifteen years. It’s a personal favorite!

This 1963 Rag Top was Ray Castro’s first car when he was in high school. Ray actually sold it, but then bought it back two years later! Not much has changed about this Bug, except that it has tripled in value!

Dan O’brien’s ’64 convertible was a rust bucket when he first bought it. It didn’t have a hood, glass, wiring, or interior. What a difference four years makes! Dan has found parts from all over the world to combine different VW styles – So Cal, skater, surf, and Hispanic culture. We think installing the wood paneling on the doors and floor was a stroke of genius… Dan says he was inspired to do that after getting the wood steering wheel. He’s paid a tremendous amount of attention to the details, and says he still isn’t done. We can’t wait to see what’s next!

Want to catch up with the Club? Check them out at 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of every month at their local cruise night, held at Burger Town U.S.A., 760 North Archibald Avenue in Ontario, Calif. They’re always looking for new members with positive attitudes and a passion for Volkswagens!

If you’re a car club member and would like your club to enjoy a free day at a future Pomona Swap Meet & Classic Car Show, please contact Matt by email or at (714) 538-7091.
