Scavenger Hunt Champions from Palmdale High<\/p><\/div>\n

Well, the Falcon Garage of Palmdale High was at it again, attending the June 3rd swap meet. This time the students\u00a0brought friends, or should I say competitors. Tim Green, the auto shop instructor at Palmdale High, brought his students to\u00a0participate with\u00a0students from the Mark Keppel High auto program, led by Jim Horton, to an automotive scavenger hunt. They combined the schools and made two teams of four competitors each. The team of Garrett Barranco, Angel Ramirez, Gregorio Campos and Antonio Arroyo put out great effort; however the winning team of Anthony Garcia, Shelbie Hawkins, Xenia Huereca and Carlos Renteria found 17 of the 20 items on a fairly challenging list, in just two hours.\u00a0The teams not only needed to know their parts, but years and manufacturers as well. Their list also included automotive decor and memorabilia, which is always a Pomona Swap Meet staple.<\/p>\n

For their efforts, each\u00a0winning team member\u00a0was awarded a Pomona Swap Meet T-shirt and bragging rights, of course. The teams had a great time gallivanting about the rows and rows of parts and accessories and I\u2019m sure they learned a few things in the process. We thank instructors Tim Green and Jim Horton for their efforts and creativity in expanding their students’ knowledge and understanding of the auto industry and doing it in a fun and engaging way. We are fortunate to have people like them nurturing our future Pomona Swap Meet Junkies and hope to see them out again in the fall.<\/p>\n
