The Cal-Rods Car Club of the San Gabriel Valley has been around since 1954, is going strong, and is looking for new friends. At least 25 club members will be at the October 16, 2016<\/span> Pomona Swap Meet & Classic Car Show<\/a><\/strong>, showing off their classic cars and trucks, shopping, sharing stories, and looking to talk with people interested in joining the Club. If you’ve been searching for a car club to join, the\u00a0Cal-Rods will\u00a0be parked on the Main Aisle of our Classic Car Corral, and they invite you to stop by and say hello.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cal-Rods currently has over 200 members and are extremely active in the community. Their annual event, which is in its 10th year, is the Santa Anita “Run with a Winner” Car Show. The show is held on the infield of the <\/span>Santa Anita Race Track<\/a><\/strong>, in Arcadia, Calif.\u00a0 This is not your typical car show and there’s something for everyone. You get to park on the infield grass of the historic race track with the backdrop of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains, while relaxing, hanging out with friends, and watching live horse racing! There’s always plenty to eat and drink, a play and activity area for kids to enjoy, and you might as well hit a trifecta while you’re there. This show is the Club’s major fundraiser and allows them to donate thousands of dollars each year to select charitable organizations, like the\u00a0<\/span>Ronald McDonald House<\/a><\/strong>, Children’s Hospital, and veterans charities. In addition to the Santa Anita show, the Club also enjoys various other activities throughout the year. Cal-Rods members volunteer their time to help organize the weekly <\/span>Twilight Cruise<\/a><\/strong>, held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, in Pomona, Calif. They keep busy with an annual picnic, a Christmas dinner\/dance, private car collection tours, shop and museum tours, and various other car shows and cruises. Cal-Rods is proud to say that they’re “still cruising after all these years,” and they definitely live up to it.<\/span><\/p>\n
