Located in Canutillo, Texas, Al Knoch Interiors specializes in high quality classic car interiors. In fact, their interiors can be found in numerous Bloomington Gold Status and NCRS Top Flight Award winning Corvettes. We caught up with the man himself, Mr. Al Knoch, to learn a little more about him and his company.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF…

PSM:  When and how did you get started in this industry?
AK:  I learned how to do upholstery at a school in Detroit, and in 1960 opened a Vette shop two blocks from my house.

PSM:  What’s the best part of your job?
AK:  The people. Talking to customers.

PSM:  If you weren’t in the car restoration business, what would you be doing?
AK:  I’d be a dentist. I was actually studying to be a dentist at the time I got into the upholstery business.

PSM:  Have you always been interested in cars?
AK:  Yes. When my grandmother passed away, I got her 1954 Pontiac. That was my first upholstery job!

PSM:  Do you currently own a classic car? Have you done much to it?
AK:  I have a ’69 Buick Riviera. I’ve had it for ten years, and I’ve re-done the paint and vinyl top.

PSM:  If you won the lottery tonight, what’s the first classic car you would buy?
AK:  A ’57 Olds Rocket 88 or a three window coupe.

PSM:  Any favorite memories of the Pomona Swap Meet that you can share with us?
AK:  I remember the first time I went to Pomona. It was so hot that I could feel the pavement through my shoes!

PSM:  Ford or Chevy, or?
AK:  Oldsmobile.

NOW TELL US ABOUT YOUR COMPANY…

PSM:  How can customers contact you?
AK:  You can reach our Sales Office at 1-800-880-8080, or visit our website: www.AlKnochInteriors.com.

PSM:  You’re known for Corvette interiors, but Al Knoch isn’t just Corvettes. What other makes and models do you specialize in?
AK:  Yes, we mostly do Corvettes, but we also work on Camaros, Impalas, and Corvairs… as well as Pontiac Firebirds and GTOs.

PSM:  How long has Al Knoch Interiors been coming to Pomona?
AK:  Oh, at least 35 years. When did Pomona start? [laughs]

PSM:  What’s trending in the Corvette world? What are the popular models right now?
AK:  C1 and C2 Corvettes are popular right now, and resto-rods are big.

PSM:  Do you see any differences between different geographic markets? Any differences between the California crowd versus Texas or the East Coast?
AK:  When it comes to Corvettes, no one area is more or less interested than another. It’s more an age group thing… Baby Boomers are restoring Corvettes more. But, they’re located all over the country!

PSM:  Can you tell us about the Bloomington Gold Status and National Corvette Restorers Society, and how you help Corvette owners get to that level?
AK:  Bloomington Gold is the premier show for original Corvette enthusiasts. We’ve always tried to listen to the customers about what we aren’t doing right! The NCRS knows more about original Corvettes than any other group. We value their input greatly.

PSM:  What do customers order the most from you?
AK:  Seats.

PSM:  Any new or special product offerings we should know about?
AK:  First generation Vettes don’t have a lot of room inside. We offer our custom AOK seats to give an extra four inches of head and leg room. Of course, we can take any seat and customize it to give more room.

PSM:  Do you offer any special swap meet prices or discounts?
AK:  Yes, we offer show prices. We also offer “Take to Show” orders so that customers can save on shipping if they order at least ten days ahead of the show.

PSM:  Anything else customers should know about your company or products?
AK:  We don’t cinch on materials. Quality is our tradition!

If you need help with your classic car’s interior (Corvette or not), we highly recommend talking to Al Knoch Interiors!
