Honoring Tradition, Brotherhood, and the Iconic Ford F-100

Every great story has a humble beginning. For Pickups Limited, it all started with a simple ad in the March 1968 issue of the PennySaver, calling out to anyone interested in trucking. That ad was placed by George Dietz and his wife, Judy, who worked at the PennySaver at the time. Little did they know, that small ad would lay the foundation for one of the most dedicated and long-standing classic truck clubs in Southern California.

Judy took the calls and helped bring together a group of six to eight enthusiasts—all drawn by a shared passion for the 1953 to 1956 Ford F-100. They began meeting weekly on Tuesday nights in the Dietz’s garage in Garden Grove, where they bonded over their trucks, swapped stories, and considered whether to make things official. By April 1968, the decision was unanimous—they would form a club with the dual goal of promoting these iconic pickups and creating a fun, family-focused social community.

From day one, the club was organized with purpose and pride. Of the original six members, four took on board positions:

  • President: George Dietz

  • Vice President: Dave Juhl

  • Secretary: Bob Williams

  • Treasurer: Gene Davis

Though time has marched on and many members have come and gone, the heart of the club still beats strong. In fact, one of the founding members, Lee Hill, remains an active and devoted part of the club today. Aside from one excused absence, Lee hasn’t missed a meeting in over 20 years—a testament to the deep camaraderie that Pickups Limited represents.

As the years rolled on, the club evolved. What began with a focus on just a few model years expanded to include all F-100s up to 1983, with associate membership available for even more classic truck enthusiasts. Through it all, the club’s mission has remained the same: celebrate the timeless style and culture of the Ford F-100, and build lifelong connections through shared automotive passion.

Today, the Pickups Limited – Pomona Valley Chapter is proud to be the Featured Car Club at the June 22, 2025 Pomona Swap Meet. Come meet the members, check out their beautifully restored trucks, and be part of a tradition that started in a garage and grew into something extraordinary.
