Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre DOHC straight-six. While this car was originally built in ‘GTI’ specification with Lucas fuel injection, this was later converted to the more reliable triple Weber carburettor setup; delivering around 217hp to the rear wheels via the sought-after four-speed manual transmission.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Introduced in 1957, the 3500 GT was Maserati’s first road car to be built in significant numbers, and utilised a tubular chassis frame, an engine derived from the 1956 350S race car, independent front suspension with wishbones and coil springs, a live axle/semi-elliptic rear suspension set-up, and bodywork
This 3500 is finished in a sophisticated Grigio Flemington hue over a black leather-trimmed interior, featuring a body-coloured dashboard, and chrome trim accents.
It rides on a set of 16-inch steel wheels with chrome trims, and Michelin tyres.
The specification includes a three-spoke steering wheel, electric windows, Jaeger gauges, a passenger-side dashboard grab handle, a Jaeger analogue clock, heater and ventilation controls, and push-out front quarter light windows.
This example left the factory as a ‘GTI’ model with fuel injection, but due to the complication of the injection system it has had this replaced with three Weber carburettors as per the setup that would be found on earliCONDITION
